String Functions

Just as number functions simplify numeric operations, these string functions are your tools for computing strings.

1. CONCAT()

CONCAT() combines two or more strings into a single unit. For instance:

SELECT CONCAT('Hello', ' ', 'World');
-- Result: Hello World

2. SUBSTRING()

SUBSTRING() carves out a portion of a string based on specified starting and ending positions:

SELECT SUBSTRING('SQL Functions', 1, 3);
-- Result: SQL

3. LENGTH()

LENGTH() measures the length of a string:

SELECT LENGTH('Data');
-- Result: 4
